When You Think About the Future — How Do You Really Feel?
Aug 18, 2026
Ladies, how do you feel? Confident, anxious, unsure, excited or a messy mix of all four? Be honest. Because most of us are somewhere between “I’ve got this” and “What on earth is going on?”
The future can feel a bit like standing at the edge of a swimming pool. Some days, you’re ready to dive in with confidence, hair slicked back, smile shining. Other days, you only want to dip your toes in and thinking I’ll just sit this one out with some herbal tea instead.
The truth about how we feel
Confidence often comes from experience, and I hold my hands up to that one. By the time we hit our 50s and beyond, we’ve already faced storms, survived dramas, and come out stronger, maybe even with better hair! We’ve built resilience. We know what we stand for. That’s where the confidence comes in.
But then there’s that whisper of anxiety. The world’s changing faster than a TikTok trend. Technology, health concerns, shifting family roles, it’s a lot of stuff. Feeling anxious doesn’t mean you’re weak; it means you care about what’s next. Uncertainty sneaks in, too. Maybe the life you’re living looks a little different from the one you imagined. That’s okay because most of us are writing a whole new script by now.
And then… there’s excitement. Because deep down, you know the future is also full of possibility. You’ve still got goals, passions, and ideas bubbling under the surface. Oh, and you’re not done yet; not by a long shot.
A little check-in
Ladies, when was the last time you checked in? The way you feel about the future often says more about your present. If you’re supported, grounded, and taking care of your wellbeing, the unknown feels like an adventure. But if you’re tired, overwhelmed, or running on fumes, it can feel like climbing a mountain in high heels and not those fail-safe, comfy wedges.
So, pause for a second. Ask yourself:
- What excites me about what’s ahead?
- What am I ready to let go of?
- What small thing can I do today that my future self will thank me for?
Whatever we feel about the future…
Whatever we feel about the future affects the way we live our lives, our behaviour, and our relationships with others. When we’re hopeful, we naturally become braver, kinder, and more open to life. That confidence spills over into how we treat people, the choices we make, and even how we carry ourselves. But when we feel fearful or uncertain, it can quietly shape our world in the opposite direction. We might hold back, play small, or protect ourselves a little too much. The thing is our emotions about tomorrow influence how we live today.
So, let’s make a pact: instead of worrying about what could go wrong, let’s get curious about what could go right. Let’s face the future with a wink, a deep breath, and a bit of that fabulous faith that has carried us this far. Because in reality, the future isn’t something that just happens to us; it’s something we help create, moment by moment, with every hopeful thought and intentional choice. And that, ladies is where the real power lies.
