Soul Over Schedule: Living Life with More Meaning, and Less Rush

Jan 19, 2026

Tired of feeling busy but not fulfilled? It’s time to slow down, breathe deeply, and listen to that inner whisper that’s been begging for space. It’s time to swap the to-do lists for “to-feel” lists and reclaiming our joy.

We live in a world that applauds the busy. “You’re juggling so much!” they say, as if exhaustion is an Olympic sport. But lately, I’ve been asking myself: what’s the point of being busy if I’m not actually living? So ladies, I’m calling time on the hustle. I’m swapping my to-do list for a to-feel list.

Pause. Breathe. Be.

I tried something radical the other morning, I made a cup of herbal tea and just sat. No mobile. No multitasking. Just me, my thoughts, and that faint hum of the world outside.

At first, I fidgeted. I reached for my mobile twice (okay, maybe three times). But then, something lovely happened. My mind quietened. My breath slowed. I could feel the peace I’d been chasing all week.

Funny, isn’t it? The thing we’re all looking for calm, joy, meaning, usually shows up when we stop running.

Let’s talk about the myth of “doing it all” for a second. This idea that you can “do it all.” You can’t. I can’t. Nobody can. And that’s okay.

We’ve been sold the dream that fulfilment lies in perfect balance, the job, the home, the friends, the workouts, the skincare routine, the five-year plan. But real life? It’s messier. It’s slower. It’s beautifully imperfect. And maybe, just maybe, we’d feel more satisfied if we stopped trying to do everything and started trying to be more ourselves.

My Mum Would Have Smiled at This One

My dear mum, Caroline had a gift for simplicity. She’d say, “Diahanne, life isn’t a race. It’s a rhythm.” This make me laugh out loud every time I say it. She moved through her days with such grace. She could make a moment feel sacred,  a walk to the market, a chat with a neighbour, even folding the washing. She had that rare ability to be fully where she was.

I think she’d smile at this new “soul over schedule” mindset. She’d probably put the kettle on, sit me down, and say, “Diahanne, you can’t hear your heart if you’re always rushing.”

Let’s Create “To-Feel” Lists

So, here’s a challenge for both of us. This week, skip the endless to-do list. Instead, write a to-feel list.

Something like this:

  •  Feel calm when I wake up.
  •  Feel joy when I walk.
  •  Feel proud of one small thing.
  •  Feel grateful for someone I love.
  •  Feel connected, even for five minutes.

Because life shouldn’t just be about what we accomplish. It should be about what we experience.

A Slower Kind of Success

Maybe slowing down is the new success story. Maybe fulfilment isn’t found in ticking every box, but in leaving some blank, for laughter, for rest, for real connection.

So, if you’ve been feeling busy but not fulfilled lately, I see you. I’m right there with you. Let’s take a breath together. Let’s give our souls a little space to speak.

Because when you stop rushing, something magical happens, you start to feel alive again.
